A CONVERSATION WITH DIX JARMAN
NAVIGATING SUCCESS AND SETBACKS: DIX JARMAN’S TAKE ON INTEGRITY IN BUSINESS
Dix Jarman’s hardest years of business were the 2007-2010 financial crisis. The lessons he learned from that period of time are critical for success with any business.
I loved Dix’s advice on how to push through extended periods of failure and disappointment: “You stay the course. You don’t change your principles. You don’t change who you are. You have to have confidence that you can do it. I never once looked in the mirror and said we can’t do this.”
This quote resounded with me deeply, because it reminds me of my own experience during those years. I was confused, anxious, and stressed, but I didn’t feel fear. Like Dix, I focused on the positive and knew I’d get through to the other side. Plus, the skill of sales is comforting to me, because I know I’ll always be able to provide for my family no matter what happens.
“In your journey it’s normal to feel anxious, scared, worried, etc … but don’t let fear in. Stay the course, and it’ll all work out.”
