A CONVERSATION WITH JULIANA DEL AGUILA
JULIANA DEL AGUILA | LEGACY, AUTHENTICITY, AND LEADERSHIP

How do you rebuild a broken country?
Through donations? Humanitarian aid? Volunteer work?
What if I told you that the best way is to build a great business.
Juliana Del Aguila’s great-grandparents fled from Armenia many years ago. They immigrated to Argentina, where they worked hard from the ground up and built a successful textile company. Her great-uncle followed in his parent’s footsteps and built many more successful companies.
When the Soviet Union collapsed, Armenia was left with nothing. Juliana’s great-uncle traveled there to see what he could do and decided to start a vineyard.
The following years were difficult since the ground wasn’t great for farming. As the years passed, however, they built an incredible business manufacturing wine and selling it around the world.
Juliana now helps to run this company, and she told me her entire focus at this point is how they can give back and continue to help build up Armenia.
For example, instead of sourcing bottles and labels from the cheapest vendor, they only source their supplies from other Armenian businesses, which can help them to grow and expand their economy significantly.
In a world full of chaos and uncertainty, I’m grateful for the example of Juliana and her family for doing all they can to provide jobs in their country and help its economy flourish.
“I can personally add my own conviction that almost nothing helps to impact the lives of more people than building an incredible business that gives back to its community.”
Grateful to Juliana for taking the time to sit down and chat during our time at HBS.
